Socrates true love was philosophy. He accepted no pay from his students. He thought the goal of teaching was to improve individuals.
Plato was a student of Socrates and took notes on what he taught. He believed in a higher world of eternal unchanging forms. The forms he believed in made up a reality and only a trained mind can be aware and understand them. Aristotle went to a school called the Academy that was put together by Plato. He didn't understand Plato's Form Theory. He thought that by examining individual objects, such as a tree, we would perceive their true form, treeness. Aristotle studied with Plato for 20 years.
